DAY ONE...

Hello World,

I finally made the decision to create a blog on 12/12/12. I woke up yesterday morning, feeling like any other day, but then my kids beamed with excitement over the date. It took me a moment to take in the significance of the date and that there probably won't be another date of repetitive numbers in my lifetime...what better way to mark history than by creating a blog?

I've been debating myself, for over a year now, as to whether or not I should create a blog/vlog. This year has been a very reflective one for me thus far. I've had some losses and some revelations and I ultimately decided that maybe it was time for me to stop deliberating and "put myself out there".

I am a mother, a wife, involved in my children's extra-curricular activities, and I work. I am a west coast native, living in the southeast. I have many interests and as a "woman of a certain age”, I have been working to embrace the extra care and attention I have to dedicate to keeping myself up. Although I find it therapeutic, at times, to primp and prepare, I find that my "low-maintenance" side often wins the battle. I am a lover of t-shirts and jeans, and sporting a ponytail. Through this blog, I want to create a medium where I can express all facets of this thing called womanhood.

I decided to name this blog, “The Beauty Biologist” because I think that on some level it captures who I am or at least what I’m into (and honestly alliterations are catchy).  The “Beauty” designation is because I want this blog to deal with “beauty” topics.  The Biologist designation stems from the fact that I hold BS and MS degrees in Biology.  Biology, by definition, is the scientific study of life and I would also like to integrate this blog into one dealing with “life”…the “beautiful life”.

Although I know many of these beauty topics aren’t novel, I hope to be able to make an interesting contribution to the community of beauty/life lovers.  :o)
